War Medals and $75,000 in Jewellery Stolen in Toorak

War medals of deep sentimental value, a $25,000 diamond engagement ring, and $50,000 worth of jewellery have been stolen in daring break-ins at two neighbouring homes in Toorak, Melbourne.

Victoria Police said the burglaries took place on Friday, June 27, around 6.30pm, when a thief broke into two houses on Stonehaven Court.

At the first property, the thief forced entry and stole a two-carat diamond engagement ring valued at $25,000.

The second home was also targeted, with the intruder making off with a safe containing approximately $50,000 worth of jewellery, along with four Army medals. Police revealed the medals belonged to the victim’s late mother, adding a poignant layer to the loss.

The residents of both properties were not home at the time of the burglaries, and the thefts were discovered upon their return.

Police have launched an investigation and are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.

“These items are not only of significant monetary value but also carry enormous personal and emotional importance for the victims,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said. “We’re determined to identify those responsible and recover the stolen property.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
