A 40-year-old Thai saleswoman and marathon enthusiast was left heartbroken after her only vehicle, a black Toyota Yaris, was stolen in a swift and calculated theft in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The incident took place late on August 2 and resulted in the loss of valuables worth over 50,000 baht.
The victim, Naphisara Monyao, a resident of Ang Thong province, shared the ordeal on social media. She explained that her car, which had no rear license plate and featured a Luang Por Guay talisman on the rear right window, was stolen from the parking lot of a hotel she had checked into that evening.
Naphisara had arrived in Ayutthaya from Nonthaburi to participate in a morning run with friends at a local stadium. She checked into the hotel around 7:40 p.m. and only discovered the theft when she came out the next morning around 4:20 a.m. to prepare for the run.
Security camera footage from the hotel captured a limping man in a white jacket approaching the area at 11:20 p.m. He was seen pretending to talk on the phone before making his way toward Naphisara’s vehicle. The suspect spent around three minutes at the rear of the car, then entered through the driver’s side and drove away within a total of 11 minutes. The car was last seen heading toward the Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon area.
The loss is more than financial for Naphisara. As an avid runner who frequently traveled across Thailand to participate in marathons, the car was essential not only for work but also for pursuing her athletic passion. Among the stolen items were three pairs of expensive running shoes valued at 23,700 baht, several running outfits, a prepaid fuel card, her wallet containing personal documents, and other items—all amounting to over 50,000 baht in total losses.
Speaking to reporters from KhaoSod, Naphisara expressed deep grief, saying, “That car was my life. I used it for work, training, and traveling to marathons across the country. I don’t know what to do now.”
The case has been reported to the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect or the stolen vehicle. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to report it to the nearest police station or contact authorities through social media platforms like Facebook.
The incident highlights the vulnerability of personal property even in seemingly secure environments and underscores the need for heightened security awareness, especially for travelers and vehicle owners.
As police continue their investigation, Naphisara and the community hope for swift justice and the return of her valuable possessions.
