American Floors Brit in Pattaya Bar Fight

American Tourist Floors British Man After Pattaya Bar Girl Slap

A night of drinking and jealousy spiraled into violence on Pattaya’s bustling Second Road, leaving a 66‑year‑old British man injured after an altercation with an American tourist.

Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation were called to Soi 11 late in the evening after reports of a fight outside a local bar. Upon arrival, they found the injured Brit, identified only as George, lying on the ground in pain. His right wrist was broken, and a bleeding gash marked his right eyebrow. Paramedics stabilized his injuries before rushing him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Officers from the Mueang Pattaya Police Station soon arrived to secure the area and begin gathering witness statements. Early accounts painted a picture of a drunken dispute fueled by alcohol, old romantic ties, and a flash of violent temper.

According to a 37‑year‑old Thai bar girl named Gaem, she had known George for years, as he was a regular patron at her bar. The two had once been romantically involved, but the relationship had ended some time ago. Despite this, George continued to visit her workplace regularly, often sharing drinks with her and other staff.

On the night of the incident, George joined Gaem and several others for drinks at her bar before leaving for another venue. When he returned later in the evening, witnesses said he was visibly intoxicated. Upon re‑entering the bar, he saw Gaem attending to another male customer, which reportedly sparked a wave of jealousy.

Witnesses claim George confronted Gaem about her interaction, raising his voice and drawing the attention of others in the busy establishment. Staff asked him to calm down and suggested he return to his hotel across the street. George, however, refused to leave and became increasingly agitated.

The confrontation escalated when George allegedly slapped Gaem across the face. In response, she reportedly threw a glass at him, striking him amid a chorus of shocked reactions from those nearby.

At this point, 53‑year‑old American tourist Eric stepped in, apparently with the intention of breaking up the fight. However, the situation quickly turned physical. Witnesses told police that Eric grabbed George and forcefully swung him to the ground. The impact resulted in George’s broken wrist and head injury.

Police later confirmed that both men had been drinking heavily prior to the incident. All parties involved, along with multiple witnesses, were summoned to the police station to give their statements.

Authorities have stated that they intend to question George further once his condition allows. Both the alleged slap and the subsequent physical takedown are being investigated to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.

Pattaya’s nightlife is no stranger to late‑night disputes, often fueled by alcohol and complicated personal histories between locals, expatriates, and tourists. Incidents like this highlight the challenges police face in maintaining order in a city known for its bustling entertainment industry and heavy foreign tourist presence.

Officers emphasized that “justice will be served for all involved” and that the investigation is ongoing. In the meantime, the bar where the incident occurred has resumed normal operations, though the events of the night remain a topic of lively conversation among patrons and staff alike.

Whether this case results in formal charges or is settled between the parties remains to be seen, but it stands as a stark reminder that in Pattaya’s high‑energy nightlife, emotions can quickly turn into altercations — and the consequences can be serious.
