Inmate Escapes Nonthaburi Prison on Stolen Bike

Police are hunting a 29-year-old inmate who made a daring escape from Nonthaburi Prison by stealing a Department of Corrections officer’s motorcycle. The fugitive, identified as Anuchit Suksud, fled on Saturday afternoon while working outside the prison grounds.

The escape occurred around 1:30 pm at a shop in Muang district, where Anuchit had been assigned to work. Still clad in his orange prison uniform, he seized the opportunity when he spotted a motorcycle with its key left unattended on the seat. He sped off before guards could react. Later, his discarded uniform was found abandoned beneath Maha Chesadabodindranusorn Bridge, but his precise escape route remains uncertain.

On Sunday, police questioned Anuchit’s mother and former girlfriend as part of the investigation. His ex-girlfriend revealed she had ended contact with him about a month ago, while investigators learned that Anuchit had messaged his sister through a friend’s Facebook account. In the message, he admitted to feeling stressed, missing his family, and fearing further criminal charges if caught.

Authorities believe he may be heading to Ang Thong province to visit his grandmother. Reports suggest he is riding without a licence plate and cutting through rice fields to avoid capture.

Prison officials noted that Anuchit had been granted the privilege of working outside the facility less than a week before the escape. With multiple criminal cases still pending against him, authorities consider him dangerous and are maintaining an intensive manhunt.
