Gang beats Lampang man unconscious after nightclub row

Police Hunt Gang After Brutal Lampang Assault

Police in Lampang are searching for a gang of men accused of brutally attacking a 42-year-old man, dragging him from his car and leaving him unconscious on the street in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. near a rice porridge shop in Sop Tui, Mueang Lampang, following what police believe was a dispute at a local nightclub.

Victim left unconscious on the street

Rescue workers from Sawang Nakorn Lampang responded to the call along with local police. They found the victim, identified as Mr. Prayut, lying unconscious beside his car. He had suffered severe bruising and was bleeding from the mouth. Paramedics administered first aid before rushing him to Lampang Hospital for treatment.

According to initial reports, Mr. Prayut had been preparing to drive away when another vehicle suddenly pulled up behind his car. Several men emerged, forced open his door, dragged him onto the street, and began to beat him. The sustained assault rendered him unconscious before the attackers fled the scene in their car.

Eyewitness account

Later in the day, reporters spoke with a witness identified only as Mr. A, who indicated the spot where the beating had taken place. He admitted he did not know how the confrontation began but recalled seeing the victim getting into his car when the assailants arrived.

“A group of men suddenly pulled up and surrounded him. They dragged him out and began hitting him. No one dared to step in,” Mr. A said. He added that someone eventually called the police once it was clear the victim was seriously hurt.

The witness speculated that the attack may have stemmed from a disagreement at a nearby entertainment venue, though investigators have not yet confirmed the motive.

CCTV reveals chilling details

Police have obtained CCTV footage that captured the sequence of events leading up to the assault. At 2:50 a.m. on August 24, the victim’s car headlights were on as if he were about to leave. A man and a woman approached his vehicle, followed shortly after by another car that parked directly behind his.

At first, two or three men exited the second car and walked past the victim’s vehicle. One of them stopped to speak to the victim while he remained inside. Moments later, more men emerged from the car, and the group swelled to more than ten individuals.

The video shows them opening the victim’s door, pulling him out, and attacking him until he collapsed unconscious on the ground. The group then quickly dispersed, fleeing the scene in their vehicles before police or rescue teams could arrive.

Police investigation underway

Authorities are now reviewing the footage and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify the attackers. Investigators believe the assault may have been retaliatory violence connected to an earlier dispute inside a nightclub.

Police have urged anyone with information to come forward, noting that the attack involved a large group and may have been premeditated.

The violent incident has shocked local residents and raised concerns over gang-related activity in Lampang, as well as the broader issue of violent disputes spilling out of entertainment venues into public areas.

For now, Mr. Prayut remains in hospital under medical care, while police continue their hunt for the perpetrators.
