Bangkok Woman, 60, Stalks Former Banker for Marriage in Udon Thani

What began as a calm afternoon in a quiet Udon Thani neighborhood erupted into a scene of confusion and disbelief when a 60-year-old woman from Bangkok arrived, suitcase in hand, determined to marry a man she had never actually met. The woman, identified as Mei Hua, traveled more than 560 kilometers on September 22 to the home of Ta, a 44-year-old former bank employee living in the Khlong Charoen community.

Carrying luggage filled with clothes and an unwavering conviction, she approached Ta’s house and demanded entry. Her goal was clear: to propose marriage and discuss starting a family together.

A Shocking Confrontation

Ta, taken aback by the unexpected visitor, refused to let the stranger into his home. The refusal triggered a tense standoff, with Mei Hua growing increasingly agitated at his unwillingness to speak with her. Neighbors gathered as the confrontation escalated, watching with shock and confusion.

Police were eventually called to intervene, carefully mediating between the determined woman and the distressed homeowner. After hours of negotiations, Mei Hua reluctantly agreed to leave and departed for Bangkok’s airport the same evening.

By the following morning, the bizarre incident had spread rapidly across Thai social media, turning the quiet neighborhood dispute into a national talking point.

Not the First Visit

In interviews after the incident, Ta revealed this was not his first encounter with Mei Hua. “She’s invaded my home three times now,” he told reporters. Previous visits had occurred in late 2024 and again in May 2025, but this third attempt was the most dramatic yet.

Ta believes Mei Hua may have first discovered him through his Facebook page, where he sells puppies. According to him, she had used several fake names to contact him online, but he never replied.

“I don’t know who she is or where she comes from,” Ta explained, still shaken. “She even said if she couldn’t marry me, she’d accept sperm donation. I was completely confused.”

Fear and Uncertainty

The strange confrontation has left Ta genuinely fearful. He admitted he was unable to sleep the night after the encounter, worried about what future visits might bring. Speaking publicly, he pleaded with Mei Hua to stop her advances:

“Please stop bothering me. I have no relationship to offer you. Don’t come back anymore.”

Neighbors Bear Witness

Several neighbors confirmed Mei Hua’s persistence. One resident, Ms. Cream, recalled seeing the woman standing in the rain during her previous attempts to approach Ta. “We told her to stop bothering him, and she agreed, but then came back a third time. I believe she’ll definitely return,” she said.

Another neighbor, Maem, described the dramatic struggle during the most recent incident, noting that Ta’s shirt was torn in the confrontation. “We were shocked—why would she do this?” Maem asked, still bewildered by the unusual display of obsession.

A Viral Mystery

As the story continues to circulate online, many are left wondering about Mei Hua’s motivations and whether she will attempt another visit. While some on social media have reacted with humor, others see the situation as a troubling case of harassment that could escalate further if left unchecked.

For now, Ta and his neighbors remain wary, hoping that the woman’s latest departure will mark the end of her relentless pursuit.
