Thief Dies After Smashing Through Glass in Chachoengsao

CHACHOENGSAO – A burglary in Bang Pakong district ended in tragedy on December 23 after a suspected intruder sustained fatal injuries while attempting to flee a residential property. The incident occurred at a three-storey townhouse in Moo 19, leaving the suspect dead and prompting an ongoing police investigation.

According to police, the homeowner was inside the house with her daughter and one-year-old granddaughter when they heard unusual noises coming from the ground floor. Concerned that someone may have broken into the house, the family stayed upstairs and contacted local authorities for assistance.

Officers from Bang Pakong Police Station, led by Police Lieutenant Noppadon Taweechart, responded to the call and coordinated with rescue workers from Chachoengsao. Upon arrival, police observed clear signs of a break-in. Wires and household valuables had been pulled apart and scattered across the first floor, indicating a search for items to steal.

Investigators also found blood stains and shattered glass inside the house, suggesting the intruder had been injured while escaping. Shortly after police arrived, a loud crashing sound was reported, believed to be the moment the suspect fled through a glass door or window at the front of the property.

Following the trail of blood, officers traced it nearly 300 metres along the street away from the house. The trail ended in front of another residence, where a man believed to be the burglar was found collapsed on the ground. He was wearing a red shirt and shorts and had sustained multiple cuts consistent with injuries from broken glass.

Rescue workers provided emergency first aid at the scene before rushing the injured man to Bang Pakong Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he later died from severe blood loss. His identity had not yet been confirmed at the time of reporting.

The homeowner told police that she and her family did not encounter the intruder directly and remained upstairs throughout the incident. Blood stains were reportedly found throughout the ground floor of the house and along the escape route, underscoring the seriousness of the injuries sustained during the attempted escape.

Police have documented the scene and collected evidence, including broken glass and disturbed property, as part of their investigation. Authorities are working to identify the deceased suspect and determine whether he acted alone or had accomplices involved in the attempted burglary.

Khaosod reported that investigators will also review whether the suspect may have been linked to other burglaries in the area. Police have reassured residents that patrols will be increased to maintain safety and prevent similar incidents.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with criminal activity and the unpredictable outcomes such actions can bring, even without direct confrontation between suspects and homeowners.
