BALI – Bali police are actively searching for two suspects after a deadly shooting early Saturday at a villa in Badung regency left one Australian man dead and another seriously injured.
The deceased victim has been identified as 32-year-old Zivan Radmanovic. His companion, 34-year-old Sanar Ghanim, was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries, officials confirmed.
Bali Police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Ariasandy told reporters that witnesses reported the suspects spoke English with an Australian accent. “Witnesses told the police that the two suspects spoke English with an Australian accent,” Ariasandy said.
Police have interviewed seven witnesses, including neighbors, the victim’s wife, and others in the vicinity. CCTV footage from the area is also under review.
At the crime scene, investigators found 17 bullet casings, two intact projectiles, and 55 fragments, but the exact type of weapon used remains under investigation.
All firearms in Indonesia must be registered with the Indonesian Target Shooting and Hunting Association (Perbakin), and police are probing how the suspects acquired their weapon.
According to local police superintendent Arif Batubara, the suspects stormed the villa just after midnight and opened fire on the victims inside their room. Radmanovic was found dead in the bathroom.
Witnesses said the suspects wore green jackets resembling those used by local ride-hailing drivers and spoke English with strong Australian accents as they fled the scene.
When asked about rumors linking the shooting to Australian criminal gangs, Commissioner Ariasandy urged patience, stating, “Let’s wait for the investigation results.”
This incident marks a rare and alarming use of firearms in a targeted attack involving foreign victims on Bali, a popular tourist destination.
In 2024, over 1.5 million Australians visited Bali, accounting for about a quarter of all international tourists to the island.
Authorities continue their investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward.
