🔍 Major Gambling Website Operator Arrested in 70M Baht Asset Seizure
Police from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) have arrested a 30-year-old man believed to be behind a major online gambling platform, Auto888vip.com, and seized assets worth over 70 million baht during a raid at a luxury home in Pathum Thani province.
The raid took place on Wednesday in the Khlong Nueng area of Khlong Luang district, after a court-approved warrant was issued. The suspect, identified as Thaweesak Prayoonnikorn, was taken into custody at the residence, which was linked to the operations of the illegal website.
According to Pol Lt Gen Trairong Piewpan, CCIB chief, Thaweesak was responsible for managing the platform’s financial operations. Police allege that he routinely withdrew large sums of money from ATMs between 10pm and 5am, storing the cash in safes and travel bags at his home.
Authorities seized a range of high-value assets during the operation, including:
- 28.5 million baht in cash
- A Mercedes-Benz CLS53 worth 5 million baht
- A BMW M4 valued at 10 million baht
- Multiple luxury watches and brand-name goods
- Property titles for land and a house worth 7 million baht
The seized assets reportedly total over 70 million baht, according to Pol Maj Gen Chatpanthakarn Khlaikhlueng of CCIB Division 3.
Auto888vip.com, launched about two years ago, was found to be servicing 3,000 active user accounts monthly and had a monthly cash flow of over 20 million baht. The platform was actively offering online gambling services in violation of Thai law.
The CCIB stated that the investigation is ongoing, with further arrests expected as authorities work to dismantle the broader criminal network behind the site.
