Bangkok Man Arrested After Wife Found Murdered in Car

BANGKOK — A 36-year-old woman was found murdered inside a car parked in front of her home in Bangkok’s Bang Khae district on Monday evening, leading to a tense three-hour standoff before police arrested her husband as the prime suspect.

The body was discovered around 8 p.m. inside a white sedan on Soi Phet Kasem 67 in the Lak Song area. Emergency responders arrived to find the victim with a gunshot wound to the back of her head and a stab wound to her body. The engine of the vehicle was still running, and it had been parked in an unusual position, partially blocking the road.

Phet Kasem Police quickly identified the woman’s 40-year-old husband as the main suspect. Believing he was hiding either inside the family home or nearby, officers cordoned off the area and began negotiations. After approximately three hours, the man surrendered without resistance and was taken into custody for questioning.

The couple had reportedly been married for over ten years and shared three children. Concern for the children grew earlier in the day when a teacher tried and failed to reach the victim’s mother to pick them up from school — a detail that contributed to the unfolding investigation.

Neighbors told police they became suspicious due to the car’s odd parking and running engine. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the motive and timeline of events leading up to the murder.

Police are providing support to the children and other affected family members as legal proceedings move forward.
