Bangkok Trio Busted for Selling Drug-Laced E-Cig Liquids
BANGKOK – A major drug trafficking operation was uncovered in Bangkok this week after officers arrested three individuals allegedly selling e-cigarette liquids laced with narcotics through online channels.
On June 20, police detained 37-year-old Netnapa, 46-year-old Thanakorn, and 33-year-old Pratchaya in connection with the illegal sales. The arrests followed community complaints from residents of Soi Prasert Manukitch 37 in Nawamin district, who suspected drug activity linked to local e-cigarette sales.
Upon confronting Netnapa, police found her visibly under the influence of narcotics and in possession of illegal vape products. Her arrest led officers to two residences in the Tharang area of Bang Khen, where further evidence was uncovered and Pratchaya was caught with large quantities of e-cigarette pods and equipment.
Drug-Laced Vape Network Traced to Chinese Supplier
During interrogation, Pratchaya confessed to sourcing the vaping materials from a Chinese supplier who instructed him on how to infuse narcotics into the e-liquid pods. These tampered products were sold online, marketed as regular vape products but containing unknown, dangerous substances.
Thanakorn was also linked to the ring, though his specific role in the operation is still under investigation.
All three suspects are currently in custody at Khok Kram Police Station, as investigators continue to gather evidence and trace additional individuals potentially involved in the network.
Police Warn Public of Dangerous Trend
Police have vowed to crack down on drug-laced vaping products, which pose significant health risks, especially to young and unsuspecting consumers. Authorities urge the public to remain alert and report any suspicious sales of vaping equipment or e-liquids.
The case has drawn attention to the growing intersection of online commerce and narcotics trafficking, signaling a troubling trend in Bangkok’s evolving drug landscape.
