21-Year-Old Bar Host Arrested for Murder of Wealthy Girlfriend in Phang Nga
Police in Thailand have arrested a 21-year-old bar host accused of murdering his 51-year-old girlfriend, Kansiree, a wealthy woman from Patong, and disposing of her body in a canal in Phang Nga Province. The shocking crime, motivated by jealousy and ongoing disputes, has drawn national attention.
The victim’s body was discovered on 8 August in the Tha Yai Canal in Khok Kloy Subdistrict, Takua Pa District. She was found submerged near fish cages, her neck bound with an iron chain and attached to two concrete dumbbells. Authorities believe she had been in the water for approximately two days before being found.
A post-mortem confirmed Kansiree’s identity. Originally from Maha Sarakham Province in northeastern Thailand, she had been living in Patong, Phuket. She inherited significant assets from her late foreign partner, including a home in Patong, which she had recently put up for sale, receiving a 500,000 baht deposit.
Suspect’s Relationship with the Victim
Kansiree had been in a relationship with the suspect, Teeraphat, for two years. The young bar host had moved into her home on 50 Pi Road in Phuket’s Kathu District. Their romance was reportedly turbulent, with frequent arguments over their significant age gap and financial issues.
Police learned that the couple had been arguing repeatedly in the days leading up to the murder, including disputes over business investments.
Security Footage Leads to Breakthrough
Investigators obtained security camera footage showing Teeraphat removing Kansiree’s body from her home. The footage prompted police to search her property and follow leads to another address in Ban Kahai, Kahai Subdistrict, Takua Thung District. There, they located an Isuzu pickup truck with visible bloodstains inside.
The evidence prompted authorities to issue an arrest warrant. On 14 August, officers from Region 8 tracked down Teeraphat in Phang Nga Province and took him into custody at Khok Kloy Police Station.
Confession and Chilling Details
Under questioning, Teeraphat admitted to killing Kansiree on 6 August. He claimed the fatal incident occurred after a heated argument escalated. In a fit of rage, he struck her on the head with a dumbbell, killing her instantly.
He then used her pickup truck to transport the body to Sarasin Bridge, where he dumped it into the Tha Yai Canal in an attempt to conceal the crime. He also took her mobile phone and important documents before fleeing the scene.
Charges and Next Steps
Teeraphat has been charged with murder and with hiding or moving a body to conceal the cause of death. Police are continuing their investigation, collecting additional evidence to present in court.
The case has sparked discussions in Thailand about age-gap relationships, financial control, and domestic violence. Authorities have stressed the importance of reporting signs of escalating domestic disputes before they turn deadly.
Kansiree’s death marks another tragic case of intimate partner violence in the country, leaving friends and relatives calling for justice as the investigation moves forward.
