Brisbane Man Stabbed, Doused in Petrol in Home Attack

A shocking home invasion in Brisbane’s inner south has left a man seriously injured after he was allegedly stabbed in his sleep and doused in petrol.

Queensland Police said the incident unfolded around 5.15am on Saturday morning, September 14, when a 25-year-old man from Camira forced his way into a home on Mollison Street in West End.

Inside, he allegedly attacked a 27-year-old man who was asleep, stabbing him in the torso before reportedly pouring petrol over his body. The attack was interrupted when another person inside the residence confronted the intruder, forcing him to flee.

Emergency services were quickly called, and paramedics treated the victim at the scene before rushing him to hospital. Authorities confirmed that he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police immediately launched a manhunt for the suspect. Just hours later, around 9.30am, officers located and arrested the man near a shopping centre in Morayfield, north of Brisbane. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The accused has since been charged with attempted murder and entering a dwelling with intent. He is scheduled to face Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

Detectives have confirmed that the two men were known to each other but have not released further details about their relationship. The motive behind the alleged attack also remains under investigation.

Residents in the West End area expressed shock at the violent incident, which took place in a busy part of Brisbane known for its cafés, nightlife, and apartment living.

Queensland Police urged anyone with additional information about the early-morning assault to come forward as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances.

The case has added to growing concerns about violent crime across the state, with authorities stressing the seriousness of home invasion offences and their commitment to ensuring public safety.

The victim is expected to undergo further treatment and monitoring in hospital as police prepare evidence for upcoming court proceedings.

This disturbing incident highlights the unpredictable and dangerous nature of violent crime in domestic or familiar settings, even in densely populated urban neighbourhoods.
