Bus Driver Found Dead in Vehicle Near Ayutthaya Station

THAILAND-Employees expecting their regular shuttle service were met with shock today, May 30, after discovering their bus driver dead inside the parked vehicle. Authorities believe the driver, identified as 54-year-old Mr. Kongjak from Chaiyaphum province, may have died of natural causes overnight.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Pleng Phankaew, deputy investigator at the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station, received a report early Thursday morning about a body found in a staff shuttle bus parked along Pathon Road, opposite the station in Pratu Chai subdistrict.

Responding to the scene with medical professionals from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital and Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Association officers, authorities found the blue shuttle bus parked roadside. Inside, Mr. Kongjak was discovered seated with his head down. Officials estimate he had been deceased for at least six hours.

The fan inside the vehicle was running, and a mattress was laid out in the aisle, indicating he may have been resting there overnight. No signs of a struggle or foul play were found. A medicine bag, personal documents, cash, and two lottery tickets were located among his belongings.

Police suspect Mr. Kongjak may have suffered a health-related shock the previous night. An expedited autopsy has been ordered to confirm the exact cause of death. The case has left coworkers stunned and grieving, as they await further answers.
