Chinese Tourist Falls to Death in Pattaya Hotel Tragedy

PATTAYA – A Chinese tourist has died after falling from the 21st floor of a prominent hotel on Pattaya Second Road near North Pattaya early Sunday morning, June 15, 2025.

The fatal incident was reported at 8:06 AM. Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Dusdee received the emergency call and quickly notified Police Colonel Anek Sarathongyoo, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station. Officers from the investigative unit, members of the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation, and journalists from The Pattaya News were swiftly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found the body of the unidentified male tourist, who was staying alone, lying in a pool of blood on the street directly below the hotel. The area was quickly cordoned off, and the body was covered with a white sheet to preserve the scene and protect the victim’s dignity.

Initial investigations into the hotel room found no signs of a struggle or forced entry. A security guard stationed at the hotel told authorities he heard a loud thud and discovered the tourist’s body upon investigating the noise. CCTV footage later showed the tourist interacting with hotel staff earlier that morning, asking about a nearby convenience store and seemingly making plans to go shopping. He then returned to the 21st floor alone shortly before his fatal fall.

At this time, investigators are treating the incident as a possible accident. However, a full forensic autopsy will be conducted at the Police Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine in Bangkok to determine the precise cause of death.

Police Lieutenant Ratchayaphol Chaidech, Deputy Investigator at Pattaya City Police Station, oversaw the scene documentation and coordinated the evidence collection with his team. The victim’s body has been transferred for examination, and authorities are working with the Chinese Embassy to notify the man’s family.

The name of the hotel is currently being withheld pending further investigation. Officials have also requested that the victim’s relatives provide necessary documents for repatriation and religious rites.

This tragic event has cast a somber shadow over Pattaya, a city known for its vibrant tourism. Local police continue their inquiries to determine whether the fall was accidental, self-inflicted, or involved any other factors.
