Chon Buri Karaoke Venue Raided for Human Trafficking, Owner Accused of Exploiting Underage Girls

Chon Buri, Thailand – A karaoke venue in Chon Buri province was raided as part of a human trafficking investigation involving the sexual exploitation of underage girls. The 59-year-old owner, identified only as Ro, has been accused of operating without a license and profiting from the prostitution of minors.

The raid was led by Police Major General Songkrot Krakritaya, commander of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATPD), in coordination with local officers from Mueang Chon Buri Police Station. The operation targeted a karaoke business located on Sukprayun Road in the Napha subdistrict.

Undercover Operation Reveals Child Exploitation

The investigation was launched after authorities received complaints last year about illegal activities at the venue. Reports alleged that girls under the age of 18 were employed as waitresses and engaged in inappropriate physical contact with customers. Some were also allegedly coerced into providing sexual services.

Undercover police, posing as clients, negotiated sexual encounters with two girls aged 15 and 16. The price was 2,500 baht each, with an additional 1,000 baht commission collected by the venue. Once the transaction was completed and evidence secured, officers moved in and arrested the owner.

Evidence Seized and Victims Rescued

During the raid, authorities confiscated several items as evidence, including:

  • A condom
  • Three marked 1,000 baht banknotes used in the sting
  • Liquor and tobacco license copies
  • QR code payment slips
  • Receipts for food and drinks

The two minors involved were rescued and are now under the care of social services. Police have confirmed they are being treated as victims of human trafficking, not offenders.

Owner Denies Charges

Ro, the owner of the establishment, denied all allegations but was taken into custody and handed over to the ATPD for further legal proceedings. Authorities emphasized their ongoing commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals and bringing traffickers to justice.

Continuing Investigation

Police are expanding the investigation to determine whether more individuals or locations are involved in the trafficking network. Meanwhile, efforts are being made to provide psychological support and rehabilitation for the rescued girls.
