PHUKET — Two foreign tourists were reportedly beaten unconscious by a group of Thai men after allegedly assaulting a local woman while intoxicated at a nightlife venue on Bangla Road in Patong, Kathu district.
The incident, which occurred Monday night, was captured on video and quickly went viral after being posted on the Facebook page “โหดจัง จังหวัดภูเก็ต”. The 22-second clip shows several Thai men rushing at the two tourists, repeatedly punching and kicking them until they collapsed.
Witnesses said the two foreigners, appearing heavily intoxicated, attacked a Thai woman inside a local establishment. A group of Thai men nearby intervened and chased the men out before physically retaliating.
The video has sparked widespread debate online. While many commenters praised the Thai men for protecting the woman, others expressed concern over the violent response and called for the situation to be handled through legal channels.
As of now, local authorities have not released official statements regarding arrests, charges, or the identities and nationalities of those involved.
