PHUKET — As part of a nationwide crime suppression campaign ordered by the National Police Office from June 14–20, Tourist Police in Phuket arrested a Dutch national wanted on a fraud charge stemming from a 2024 dispute.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Phuak-am directed all Tourist Police units to coordinate with local agencies to investigate and arrest offenders. Region 3 Tourist Police reviewed outstanding warrants and flagged a 65-year-old Dutch man named Mr. Cornelis.
According to police, Mr. Cornelis was accused by his German business partner of fraud involving approximately 350,000 baht (USD $10,740) related to a jointly owned restaurant in Patong, Phuket. Following an investigation, police secured a court-issued arrest warrant dated July 9, 2024.
Tourist Police received intelligence from local informants that the suspect was living in the Pa Khlok area of Thalang District. Officers conducted surveillance and confirmed his identity before arresting him on June 17, 2025.
The suspect has been transferred to Phuket Provincial Court for prosecution.
This arrest underscores the success of the National Police Office’s intensified efforts to crack down on criminal activity and reinforces the Tourist Police’s role in safeguarding Thailand’s tourist regions.
