Four Arrested in Violent Phuket Assault Over Personal Dispute

Police in Phuket have arrested four young men in connection with the violent assault of a massage shop worker in Phuket Town on June 19.

The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m. when 41-year-old Suriya Namsak was attacked in front of a local noodle shop. According to the Phuket City Police, the suspects initially claimed that Suriya had hit one of them with his motorcycle and fled the scene.

Following an investigation, police identified the suspects and secured arrest warrants from the Phuket Provincial Court. The suspects were apprehended at 7:00 a.m. on June 22 in the Kathu district.

During the raids, authorities confiscated two homemade firearms, a modified blank gun, 50 rounds of ammunition, two motorcycles believed to have been used in the assault, and clothing linked to the attack.

However, one of the suspects later admitted the motive wasn’t a traffic incident. Instead, he claimed the attack was sparked by a personal conflict involving his mother-in-law, who had a past dispute with the victim. He said he gathered his friends specifically to confront Suriya.

All suspects are currently in custody, and the confiscated weapons and evidence remain with police as legal proceedings move forward, according to Phuket News.
