German Bar Boss Caught in Pattaya Cocaine Sting

German bar manager in Pattaya arrested with 427 grams of cocaine and a firearm

June 17, 2025 – Pattaya police, in coordination with the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, arrested a 42-year-old German national, Mr. Jansen, on charges of cocaine trafficking and illegal firearm possession. The arrest, carried out at 9:00 AM, led to the seizure of 427 grams of cocaine worth approximately 490,000 baht and a loaded .380 caliber handgun.

The joint task force was led by Pol. Col. Anek Sratongyoo, Commander of Pattaya City Police, and Pol. Col. Ekarin Sikkhagul, Commander of Narcotics Suppression Division 2. Supporting officers included Pol. Lt. Col. Arut Saphanont, Pol. Maj. Suradej Imjai, Pol. Maj. Thanes Saeng-hiran, and Pol. Capt. Prasitboon Boonprasit.

Authorities had received intelligence indicating that Jansen, a manager at a bar and sports club in central Pattaya, was distributing cocaine to foreign clientele while regularly carrying a firearm. After weeks of surveillance, police launched a sting operation. In a previous controlled buy, an undercover officer successfully purchased 2 grams of cocaine from Jansen for 5,000 baht, building trust.

On June 17, a second transaction was arranged in the parking lot of a well-known fried chicken outlet. Jansen, pretending to be a tourist, completed the sale but grew suspicious and fled the scene on a motorcycle toward his business on Soi Buakhao. Police gave chase and successfully apprehended him.

A subsequent search of Jansen’s residence revealed an additional 424 grams of cocaine, along with the firearm and ammunition. The total cocaine haul reached 427 grams, with a street value nearing 500,000 baht.

During interrogation, Jansen claimed that a fellow German supplied the drugs in bulk—one kilogram at a time—which he resold for 2,500 to 3,000 baht per gram to foreign buyers, splitting the profits. Authorities remain skeptical of his statement and are expanding their investigation into a broader trafficking ring.

Jansen, who has lived in Thailand for over four years, is believed to have used his role in the entertainment business as a front for his criminal operations. Police have not disclosed the name of the bar pending further investigation.
