NEW YORK — Frankie Gotti, 27, and John Gotti, 31 — grandsons of the late Gambino crime boss John Gotti — were arrested and charged with assault after allegedly attacking Gino Gabrielli, a former family associate, in Howard Beach, Queens.
Authorities say Gabrielli had been arrested earlier for breaking into a property linked to one of the brothers and stealing $3,300. Unsatisfied with legal proceedings alone, the Gotti brothers allegedly tracked him down and assaulted him in front of his mother at her home.
Both men were arraigned Tuesday in Queens Criminal Court on misdemeanor assault charges and released without bail. Their next court date is set for August 7.
Gabrielli, described by officials as a mob associate, has a colorful criminal history. In 2015, he accidentally set himself on fire while attempting to torch a car during an extortion scheme. He pleaded guilty to arson in 2016.
John Gotti, the grandson, also has a prior conviction. In 2017, he was sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to oxycodone trafficking. His lawyer at the time said the Gotti name was both a “blessing and a curse,” noting the public scrutiny and notoriety associated with the family.
