Hidden Camera Exposes Resort Staff Using Guest’s Personal Items

A Thai woman has issued a public warning after hidden camera footage revealed resort staff using her personal belongings while she was away from her room, sparking widespread concern over guest privacy and safety in tourist accommodations.

The woman shared the video on her TikTok account, @hydemylxu03, on January 7. Although she did not disclose the name or exact location of the resort, many social media users speculated that it was located in Nakhon Ratchasima province, based on the local dialect spoken by the staff heard in the footage.

According to the woman, she returned to her home province during the New Year holiday and decided to stay at a resort rather than with her family. She booked several nights and requested daily housekeeping services throughout her stay. While she said she was unsure what prompted the decision, she placed a hidden camera on a table inside the room to monitor what happened in her absence.

What she later discovered left her shocked and uncomfortable. The footage showed three resort employees entering her room during cleaning hours and handling her personal belongings. One worker appeared to spray her perfume, open containers of skincare products, and apply her eyeshadow while discussing the items with colleagues. Another worker was seen opening and smelling her perfume and inspecting her makeup, while a third handled similar items without applying them.

The woman clarified that nothing appeared to be stolen from her room. However, she said the incident caused her significant distress, making her feel unsafe and anxious. She added that she no longer felt comfortable leaving her personal belongings unattended while staying in accommodation, even during routine housekeeping.

She also revealed that she had planned to make the resort her regular place to stay whenever she returned home to visit family. That plan, she said, has now been abandoned. The woman noted that the resort previously had positive reviews across multiple booking platforms, and reports that Thai celebrities had stayed there gave her confidence when making the reservation.

After the video went viral, many netizens questioned whether she had reported the incident to the resort’s management or taken legal action. The woman did not respond publicly to those comments. However, one TikTok user claimed that a friend employed at the resort said the staff members shown in the footage had since been dismissed. This claim has not been officially confirmed by the resort or authorities.

The incident has reignited online debate about privacy, professionalism, and trust within Thailand’s hospitality industry, with many calling for stricter oversight and clearer guest protection measures to prevent similar violations in the future.
