Illegal Bar in Nakhon Nayok Busted for Sex Trafficking

Police from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division raided an illegal bar in Mueang district, Nakhon Nayok province, uncovering a sex trafficking operation involving both Thai and Laotian women.

The bar was managed by 45-year-old Thai national Apirak and 43-year-old Malaitip, a Laotian citizen. Authorities allege the duo organized sex work at the venue, employed undocumented migrant workers, and operated without proper licenses.

Police Colonel Songkrod Koekritaya led the operation, instructing Police Lieutenant Colonel Warit Pathumarak and Police Lieutenant Narongwate Chiudej to conduct the raid. The bar had been under investigation after police received tips about illegal activity taking place.

Undercover officers confirmed the allegations when 19-year-old Thai worker Parita offered sexual services to an officer for 2,000 baht (approx. USD 60). Of that amount, 500 baht went to the establishment. The payment was disguised as a food or drink charge on a receipt issued by Malaitip, in an attempt to cover up the illegal transaction.

When police raided the bar, they arrested Apirak and Malaitip on multiple charges, including sex trafficking, employing illegal migrant labor, and operating an unlicensed entertainment venue. Three Laotian women—35-year-old Malaifon, 32-year-old Bunnam, and 25-year-old Pengkhampan—were also taken into custody for working without permits and engaging in prostitution. Parita was also arrested for soliciting prostitution.

Seized evidence included a 1,000 baht note, two 500 baht notes, a condom, and receipts tied to drink sales and sexual services.

The suspects have been transferred to Mueang Nakhon Nayok police station for further legal proceedings as authorities continue to investigate the full scope of the operation.
