Love Triangle Turns Deadly in Bangkok Minibus Shooting
A tragic early morning shooting has left one man dead in Bangkok, as a bitter love triangle spiraled into deadly violence. Police are now on the hunt for a suspect believed to have acted out of jealousy and rage.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on August 2, 38-year-old minibus driver Anucha was gunned down outside an apartment on Rama 2 Road. Authorities say the shooter—identified as 36-year-old Sira, also a minibus driver—is now on the run.
Responding to the scene, Police Lieutenant Colonel Dechudom Onying of Tha Kham Police Station discovered Anucha’s body lying on the pavement. He was dressed in a black t-shirt and jeans and had suffered seven gunshot wounds. Spent bullet casings were found scattered near the scene. The investigation was led by Police Colonel Wichayanon Eaktasaeng alongside forensic officers and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation.
A key witness, May, 34, who considered Anucha a close friend and elder brother, provided insight into the events leading to the shooting. She explained that Anucha had been romantically involved with 37-year-old Sukanya, a married woman. On the night of the incident, Anucha and Sukanya had gone out for dinner and drinks. After returning to her apartment by motorcycle, they were allegedly confronted by her husband—believed to be Sira—who then opened fire.
According to May, the affair between Anucha and Sukanya had been ongoing for some time, and the couple were inseparable. Sira, Sukanya’s husband, was aware of the relationship but had never separated from her. Tensions between the trio had reportedly been building for months. Witnesses believe that seeing Anucha drop Sukanya off at her apartment may have pushed Sira to act violently.
Further background emerged from Anucha’s ex-wife, Ple. She revealed that she and Anucha had three children together. Around two years ago, she had hired Sukanya—an English graduate—to tutor their children. Over time, Sukanya and Anucha began an affair, which eventually led to his divorce from Ple just five months ago.
Ple believes jealousy was the motive behind the killing. “This wasn’t random,” she told local media outlet KhaoSod. “It was about emotions that got out of control.”
Police have now intensified their efforts to locate Sira, who has disappeared since the incident. His vehicle and known addresses are being monitored, and an arrest warrant is expected to be issued soon.
Anucha’s body has been transferred to Siriraj Hospital for an autopsy, and investigators are continuing to gather statements and evidence. Authorities believe the murder was premeditated and rooted in emotional turmoil stemming from the love triangle.
As the investigation unfolds, residents in the area remain shaken by the brutal nature of the crime, which has highlighted how jealousy and unresolved personal conflicts can erupt into devastating violence.
