A 26-year-old man from New York has been charged in the fatal shooting of his wife, father, and grandmother in a tragic domestic incident that occurred Wednesday night.

Joshua Fowler is accused of killing his wife, Whitney Fowler, his father, Wilson Fowler, and his grandmother, Anita Crandall, at the family home in Grafton, about 40 miles west of Boston, according to local reports.

Authorities say police had previously responded to multiple domestic disturbance calls at the residence. Fowler now faces charges including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and a weapons offense.

His mother, Eleanor Crandall, told local media that her son had long battled mental health issues and had refused to seek treatment. “To me, my son died that night, too,” she said. “I hate him. And that’s a very strong word in my vocabulary.”

Crandall revealed she had warned his father when Joshua was just 15 years old, expressing fear that he would eventually hurt someone. That grim prediction, she said, has now come true.

Family friends and community members have expressed grief and anger. “He just took somebody’s mom, somebody’s family, somebody’s sister, somebody’s daughter,” said Whitney Fowler’s friend, Alexa Moak.

The investigation is ongoing.
