A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly dousing a woman in flammable liquid and setting her on fire in Melbourne’s north.
Victoria Police allege that around 6.40am yesterday, the 41-year-old man poured a flammable substance over a 35-year-old woman outside a home on View Street in Glenroy, before igniting it.
The alleged attack left the woman with life-threatening injuries. She was rushed to hospital, where she remains in a critical but stable condition.
Police arrested the man, also from Glenroy, at the scene.
He has since been charged with attempted murder and was remanded in custody to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 7.
Investigators confirmed that the man and woman are known to each other.
