U THONG, SUPHAN BURI – A 33-year-old man fatally shot three family members and seriously injured a fourth in a violent outburst at a village in U Thong district on Friday morning, prompting a widespread police manhunt.
The deadly incident occurred around 9 a.m. in Moo 2 village, tambon Ban Don. According to Pol Maj Maneenanthiya Ketkaew of the Srayaisom police station, officers arrived at the scene to find two women and one man dead inside a house. A fourth victim, also a woman, suffered critical gunshot wounds and was rushed to U Thong Hospital.
The suspect, identified as Paiboon, or “Bas,” fled the scene before police arrived. Authorities confirmed that the victims and the shooter were related.
Residents told police they heard six to seven gunshots but initially mistook the sound for fireworks. The shooting sent shockwaves through the community, with Wat Yang Sawang Arom School — located near the crime scene — evacuating students to ensure their safety. Six police officers were deployed to secure the school premises.
Investigators believe the motive behind the shooting may be linked to a land dispute or unresolved family issues. Paiboon was described by neighbors as hot-tempered and known for frequently displaying his pistol.
Police have launched an urgent manhunt to apprehend the suspect and are urging the public to report any sightings or information that could lead to his arrest.
