A family gathering in Thailand turned deadly when a drunken argument over a karaoke microphone escalated into a brutal killing. Police in Pak Chong district have arrested a 40-year-old man who confessed to murdering his uncle during a heated confrontation at a house in tambon Pong Talong.
Authorities were called to the scene on Monday evening, where they found the lifeless body of 59-year-old Thian lying in a pool of blood. He had suffered severe head injuries, and an air rifle with a broken stock lay beside him, suggesting a violent struggle had taken place.
Investigators quickly identified the victim’s nephew, Arthit, 40, as the primary suspect. He was arrested at the scene without resistance. According to police reports, Arthit admitted to killing his uncle after an argument spiraled out of control.
The dispute reportedly began while the two men were drinking together and singing karaoke. At some point, Thian snatched the microphone from his nephew’s hand and made rude remarks toward him. The insult enraged Arthit, who then struck his uncle on the head with the stock of an air rifle. The force of the blow was so severe that the gun broke.
Not stopping there, Arthit then grabbed a knife and stabbed Thian below the ear, inflicting a fatal wound. Neighbors alerted authorities after hearing shouting and a commotion, but by the time police arrived, Thian was already dead.
Forensic officers examined the scene, collecting the broken weapon, knife, and other evidence for analysis. Arthit, who appeared intoxicated at the time of his arrest, cooperated with investigators and gave a full confession.
Police charged Arthit with murder and took him into custody for legal proceedings. Officials indicated that he will remain detained pending trial.
