Massive Drug Bust in Union County Two Arrested $66K Seized

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A large-scale narcotics investigation in Union County has resulted in the arrest of two suspects, the seizure of multiple firearms, and the confiscation of a massive haul of illegal drugs and cash.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office, through its S.H.I.E.L.D. Unit and Narcotics Investigations Bureau, arrested Phillip Blount, 46, of Monroe, and Jessica Diehl, 44, following a traffic stop that led to a broader investigation.

Deputies said Blount, who had an outstanding warrant, was pulled over last week. During the stop, authorities allegedly discovered more than 50 grams of methamphetamine on him. A search warrant was then executed at his residence, which revealed a staggering quantity of narcotics.

Drugs and weapons seized:

  • Over 6.5 pounds of methamphetamine
  • 5.5+ pounds of marijuana
  • 2 pounds of pressed pills
  • 200+ grams of cocaine
  • 360+ grams of psychedelic mushrooms
  • 18 grams of MDMA
  • A small amount of fentanyl
  • Four pistols, one reported stolen
  • About $66,000 in cash

Diehl, identified as a co-conspirator in the narcotics operation, was arrested at the scene.

Charges:

Phillip Blount is facing numerous charges including:

  • Trafficking methamphetamine (3 counts)
  • Trafficking cocaine and MDMA
  • Maintaining a dwelling for drug activity (2 counts)
  • Possession with intent to sell various controlled substances (Schedules I, II, IV)
  • Possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Possession of drugs in a jail facility

He is being held on a $2 million secured bond.

Jessica Diehl is charged with:

  • Trafficking methamphetamine, cocaine, and MDMA
  • Maintaining a drug dwelling
  • Felony marijuana possession
  • Possession with intent to sell and deliver drugs (Schedules I, II, IV)

She remains in custody under a $1 million secured bond.
