Police Investigate Murder-Suicide in Pathum Thani Involving 13-Year-Old
Police in Pathum Thani are investigating a shocking murder-suicide that left two people dead and three others critically injured after a man attacked his wife’s family when they confronted him over alleged inappropriate messages with his 13-year-old sister-in-law.
The incident occurred on 3 September 2025 at a home in Khlong Chet Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District. Police Lieutenant Patchthanaphon Ratchatharakan from Khlong Ha Police Station led the response alongside forensic teams, rescue workers, and paramedics from Thanyaburi Hospital.
Shooting at Family Home
At the scene, a single-storey concrete home, officers found the body of Ms. Thassanee Odsawat, 46, shot three times in the chest near an outdoor marble table with beer bottles and food remnants.
Nearby, her brother Mr. Chaiwat Odsawat, 43, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head. He was still alive but in critical condition and was rushed to Thanyaburi Hospital.
Inside the house, officers located 13-year-old Wanphen Sarimarun, gravely injured with a gunshot wound to the head. Rescue teams provided emergency aid before transferring her to hospital. A toddler, aged three or four, was found sleeping unharmed in a cradle.
Another victim, Mr. Anurak Kaewsakunnee, a local administrative officer, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head, arm, and leg. He was transported to Khlong Luang Hospital in serious condition.
Attacker Found Dead in Lorry
Police also discovered a blue 22-wheel Isuzu truck parked in front of the home. In the driver’s seat was the body of Mr. Kiattisak “Noom” Kirirum, 35, the alleged shooter. He had a fatal gunshot wound near his left ear, and a modified 9mm pistol was found on the floor of the cab. Forensic teams collected seven spent cartridges at the scene along with 18 unused rounds and a pistol holster.
Motive Linked to Alleged Inappropriate Chats
According to his wife, Ms. Nanthaphat Sapyai, 26, the violence erupted after her family confronted Kiattisak about inappropriate messages he had allegedly exchanged with her 13-year-old sister.
The family had arranged to meet and resolve the issue, but Kiattisak resisted joining the discussion. Later, Nanthaphat received a chilling phone call from him, during which he confessed to shooting her family and urged her to come home to see their child. She heard another gunshot before the line went silent.
When she returned, she found her mother, uncle, and younger sister shot, while her husband had killed himself in the parked truck.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Police are continuing to gather evidence, interview family members, and question witnesses to piece together the full sequence of events. The victims’ bodies were taken to Thammasat University Hospital as heavy rain fell on the crime scene.
Authorities described the incident as a devastating case of domestic violence compounded by allegations of child abuse, underscoring the deep social risks posed by hidden family disputes.
