Rapper Prinya Intachai, widely known as Way Thaitanium, reported to the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) on Friday to formally acknowledge fraud charges filed against him and his wife, actress Rybena “Nana” Intachai. The complaint was submitted by a businessman who alleges that the couple deceived him into transferring 14 million baht. Authorities emphasize that the matter remains under investigation, and no court has ruled on the allegations.
Prinya arrived at the ECD accompanied by his lawyer, Saiyood Phengbunchoo, responding to a police summons issued earlier for questioning. The rapper met with Pol Maj Gen Thatphum Charuprach, commander of the division, to provide his statement and cooperate with ongoing inquiries.
According to Mr. Saiyood, his client has been charged with colluding in fraud, a charge connected to a series of financial transactions made to Prinya’s bank account. The complainant claims that the transfers—10 transactions in total since March 2022—were made based on misleading information and assurances allegedly provided by the couple. The total amount transferred, according to the accusation, reached 14 million baht.
Prinya has not publicly disclosed details of his defense; however, his legal team maintains that he intends to fully cooperate with investigators and present evidence that clarifies his side of the story. Mr. Saiyood noted that responding to the summons was an essential step toward addressing the allegations and ensuring transparency in the investigation.
Police officials at the ECD stated that the case remains in the evidence-gathering stage. Investigators are reviewing documents, bank transfers, and communications relevant to the complaint. Once the review is complete, the findings will be forwarded to prosecutors, who will decide whether the case should proceed to court.
The allegations against the celebrity couple have drawn widespread attention due to their prominent status in Thailand’s entertainment industry. Way Thaitanium is a well-known figure in the Thai hip-hop scene, both as a solo artist and a member of the influential rap group Thaitanium. His wife, Rybena “Nana” Intachai, is a popular actress and media personality with a significant following.
As public interest grows, legal experts remind observers that charges are not equivalent to guilt. Under Thai law, suspects are presumed innocent until a court issues a ruling. The couple has not issued a joint public statement regarding the allegations, and both parties connected to the dispute are expected to provide additional documentation as the investigation progresses.
The ECD has not announced a timeline for concluding the inquiry. For now, authorities say the focus remains on gathering all relevant facts to determine the validity of the complaint and the next legal steps.
