Stabbing Rampage at Seoul Pizza Restaurant Leaves 3 Dead
A stabbing rampage at a pizza restaurant in Seoul’s Gwanak District left three people dead on Wednesday morning following what authorities described as a dispute over interior renovations.
The incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. in Jowon-dong, a neighborhood in western Seoul. Police said the suspect, believed to be the restaurant’s owner, allegedly attacked contractors who had been working on the premises.
Victims Pronounced Dead
The three victims — identified by age as a man in his 30s, a man in his 40s, and a woman whose age was not immediately released — sustained multiple stab wounds, primarily to the abdomen. They were rushed to nearby hospitals but were later pronounced dead.
Suspect Hospitalized
The suspect, believed to be the restaurant’s owner, reportedly suffered self-inflicted injuries during the attack. Police said he was transported to the hospital for treatment and remains under guard. His current condition has not been disclosed.
Authorities believe the violence stemmed from a bitter dispute between the restaurant owner and contractors over renovation work. Investigators are examining the business relationship between the parties, as well as any previous conflicts.
Investigation Underway
Seoul police have cordoned off the scene and collected forensic evidence from inside the restaurant. Interviews with witnesses and nearby shopkeepers are ongoing to establish the timeline of events.
Authorities said they are also reviewing CCTV footage from the area to verify how the attack unfolded.
The case has shocked local residents, who described the normally quiet commercial area as a family-friendly neighborhood.
Officials emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages and more details, including potential charges, will be announced once the suspect’s medical condition allows for questioning.
