MELBOURNE, Australia
Victoria Police are searching for two teenage boys involved in a violent assault and stabbing that occurred across two Melbourne suburbs on Thursday evening. The incidents, which police believe are linked, left a 70-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy seriously injured.
Attack Inside Chemist Leaves Elderly Man Injured
The first incident took place around 4:55 p.m. at a shopping centre on Cheltenham Road in Keysborough, when the two suspects allegedly attempted to steal items from a chemist.
According to police, a 70-year-old man confronted the teens as they tried to exit the store with suspected stolen goods. The confrontation escalated into a violent assault, leaving the man with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Unprovoked Stabbing of Teenage Boy at Bus Stop
Less than three hours later, at approximately 7:15 p.m., police believe the same pair approached a 16-year-old boy waiting at a bus stop on Centre Dandenong Road in Dingley Village.
In what police described as an “unprovoked attack,” the boy was stabbed and further assaulted as he tried to flee. He was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Ongoing Manhunt
Police attempted to track down the two suspects following the second attack, but the teens fled the area on foot. Authorities are now conducting a full-scale search, including reviewing CCTV footage and collecting witness statements.
Victoria Police are urging anyone who witnessed either incident or who may have information about the suspects’ identities or whereabouts to come forward.
