CHACHOENGSAO — Teenage Jogger Discovers Human Skull in Suspected Murder Case

Authorities have launched a murder investigation after a 15-year-old student discovered a human skull while jogging near a reservoir in Ban Pho district, Chachoengsao province.

The student, a trainee in the Reserve Officer Training Corps, was on a routine late-afternoon run near a water treatment pond in Village 2, Tambon Saen Phu Dat, when he noticed something unusual in the grass. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was a human skull and immediately notified local officials.

Police and forensic teams from Saen Phu Dat Station responded to the scene and confirmed the skull belonged to a woman aged between 30 and 40 years. The skull was partially wrapped in a pink towel and had red-blonde dyed hair. Two torn black plastic bags, one marked with green adhesive tape, and other scattered items were also found at the site.

Initial forensic analysis indicated a large fracture on the right temple, suggesting the victim may have died from a blunt-force trauma. Investigators estimate the woman was killed about a month ago.

The Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine has taken custody of the remains for DNA testing and further analysis. Authorities are also reviewing missing persons reports in hopes of identifying the victim.

The area where the remains were found is secluded and heavily overgrown, commonly used by local fishermen and construction workers, but largely deserted at night.

One local resident told investigators they saw a sealed cardboard box in the middle of the road in late April, but thought nothing of it. They also reported a foul smell that lingered in the area for several weeks before fading.

Police believe the perpetrator may have been familiar with the terrain and chose the location to deliberately conceal the body. Officers are currently analyzing CCTV footage from surrounding areas and expanding their investigation.

The case remains ongoing.
