Temple Police Arrest Burglary Suspect Willis

Temple police officers arrested 41-year-old Justin Willis on Thursday afternoon, executing a search warrant that concluded with his capture in north Temple. Authorities say Willis is suspected in multiple burglaries, including a recent break-in at a long-standing local business.

Police reported that Willis was taken into custody around 5:15 p.m. on Aug. 21 in the 3300 block of N. General Bruce Drive. He was transported to the Bell County Jail, where booking records show he was processed shortly after 8 p.m. As of Friday, his official charges and bond amount had not yet been listed online.

The investigation into Willis gained momentum following a burglary reported on Aug. 19 at Temple Feed and Supply, a business located in the 21800 block of SE HK Dodgen Loop. Officers responding to the scene discovered that a front window had been shattered, providing the suspect access to the store. Once inside, police found signs of significant damage.

Investigators quickly began collecting evidence at the scene and reviewing security camera footage supplied by the store’s owner. The video material proved crucial, as it allowed officers to identify Willis as a prime suspect. With this information, detectives secured a search warrant that ultimately led to his arrest two days later.

The business owner, relieved by the swift action, took to social media after Willis’ arrest to express gratitude to both law enforcement and the Temple community.

“To our customers and Temple community — this afternoon, the Temple Police Department was able to safely and quickly capture the culprit in our burglary. He is off the streets tonight,” the statement read. “We want to say a sincere THANK YOU to Temple PD and everyone who shared our videos and reached out with tips to help — we are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and because of YOU, our town is safer tonight.”

Police did not immediately release details regarding whether Willis may face additional charges related to other burglaries in the area. Officials emphasized, however, that community involvement — including tips and shared information — played an important role in moving the investigation forward.

Temple Police Department has urged local businesses and residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activity, and continue to support ongoing investigations. For Temple Feed and Supply, the arrest brings a measure of relief and closure after the unsettling break-in earlier in the week.

While formal charges are still pending, the arrest represents progress in addressing a string of burglaries that had caused concern among local business owners. For now, Willis remains in custody as investigators continue their work.
