A married couple in Tennessee, Jose Montoya, 27, and Judith Ramirez, 26, were arrested after allegedly shooting a woman in the back of the head at Tequila Town Bar in Memphis. The couple was reportedly ejected from the bar for acting “irate” before the shooting.
According to police, the incident happened just after midnight on June 15, 2025. Security staff said Montoya became aggressive after being asked to calm down and was escorted outside with his wife. Montoya then reportedly retrieved a firearm from their vehicle and began firing shots at the security guard, who returned fire in self-defense.
During the chaos, a female patron was shot in the back of the head and transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Several nearby vehicles were also damaged by stray bullets.
Police located the couple’s vehicle at a residence on Josibpet Lane, recovering spent casings and a handgun believed to be used in the shooting. Montoya and Ramirez were arrested at the home and are currently held without bond.
They face charges of attempted first-degree murder, using a firearm during a felony, and vandalism. A court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
