Thai TikToker Exposes Man Secretly Filming in Supermarket
A Thai TikToker issued a public warning after catching a man secretly filming her in a supermarket in Lampang on Sunday, September 7. The incident, which quickly went viral, has sparked concern over women’s safety in public spaces across Thailand.
The TikTok user, posting under the handle parery_review2, shared a video of the suspect along with a detailed caption explaining what happened. She revealed that she was initially unaware of being recorded until another female shopper noticed the man’s unusual behavior and stepped in to alert her.
According to the victim, the suspect was carrying four mobile phones and a tripod at the time of the incident. Upon closer inspection, each phone contained multiple explicit videos of women. Shockingly, one of the devices also held four separate videos of the TikToker, each showing close-up footage of her private parts—evidence that the filming had been intentional rather than accidental.
When confronted, the man repeatedly denied filming her. He first claimed that he was recording products on the alcohol shelf rather than the woman herself. However, the saved videos told a different story. As the confrontation continued, he offered several contradictory excuses. At one point, he said he thought she was an actress and wanted to record her. Later, he changed his explanation again, claiming he was filming her in search of a “lucky number” for the upcoming lottery.
The victim dismissed these explanations as unreasonable and unacceptable. Her video captured the man’s shifting stories, adding to public outrage once the footage spread online.
Following the confrontation, the suspect was escorted to the shopping mall’s security guard office. He was then handed over to Mueang Lampang Police Station for questioning. While police confirmed that an investigation was underway, authorities did not disclose specific details regarding any punishment or charges the man may face.
The case has triggered wider discussion in Thailand about hidden camera crimes, which continue to be a growing problem. Many social media users praised the TikToker for speaking out and sharing her experience, saying her warning could help other women stay vigilant in public spaces.
For now, the incident serves as both a disturbing reminder of privacy violations and a call for stronger enforcement to protect women from such predatory behavior.
