Two males, aged 17 and 20, were arrested by the police on Wednesday, Dec 24, for their suspected involvement in a snatch theft case that occurred in the Redhill area. The swift arrests were made within four hours of the incident being reported, highlighting the effectiveness of police surveillance and investigative work.
According to a police news release issued on Dec 25, the alleged crime took place at around 2.50pm along Redhill Close. An elderly man was reportedly walking in the area when a suspect suddenly snatched a plastic bag containing cash from him before fleeing the scene. The victim was left shaken but immediately reported the incident to the authorities.
Police investigations began promptly after the report was received. Officers reviewed images captured by police cameras in the vicinity and conducted follow-up ground investigations. Through these efforts, the suspect was identified, along with a second individual believed to have acted as an accomplice in the crime.
Both suspects were arrested within four hours of the report. The police confirmed that the stolen cash, amounting to $1,625, was fully recovered during the arrests. Authorities did not disclose further details about the suspects’ roles but stated that investigations were ongoing.
The two individuals arrested include a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old male teenager.
