Woman Claims Meth Was Planted in Car at Thai Prison Car Wash
LAMPANG, THAILAND — A woman in Lampang has gone public with shocking allegations after her sister discovered methamphetamine pills under her car seat shortly after it was cleaned at a prison-run car wash — and just as police arrived to conduct a surprise inspection.
In a widely shared social media post, the woman explained that her sister had dropped the car off around midday and waited with her in the prison’s café while it was cleaned. The process took unusually long — over three hours — and raised suspicions. When they were finally told the car was ready, officers appeared almost immediately, saying the prison warden had tipped them off about drugs in the vehicle.
Police found five meth pills in a packet under the driver’s seat floor mat. The sisters were stunned, noting that the car had just been vacuumed — meaning the drugs should have been noticed or removed during cleaning.
Insisting they were innocent, the sisters voluntarily accompanied officers to the police station and requested a DNA test be conducted on the packet. More than two weeks have passed, but the family has yet to receive any update from authorities.
Possible Retaliation?
When questioned about a possible motive, the woman said her sister had previously served time at the same prison on a money laundering conviction. While incarcerated, she allegedly filed complaints against a prison officer for soliciting bribes — complaints that were never acted upon. That officer, she says, still works at the prison, leading the family to suspect the incident may be retaliation.
Social media reactions have been swift, with many expressing alarm and concern. Some commenters believe the woman was set up, while others vowed to avoid using the car wash altogether. A few called for caution and an official investigation before drawing conclusions.
Facility Closed, Investigation Ongoing
A local reporter who visited the prison-run car wash, normally open on weekdays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, found it closed. Authorities say the case has been brought to the attention of the prison warden, and a formal investigation is pending.
The woman continues to call for transparency and urges the police to release the DNA results that could potentially clear her sister — or confirm foul play.
