Five women have been arrested and three massage parlours placed under investigation following a series of police enforcement operations targeting vice activities in Singapore.
The raids, carried out on Thursday were led by officers from the Jurong Police Division. Authorities confirmed that the women, aged between 36 and 51, are being investigated for allegedly offering sexual services in exchange for money under the guise of massage services.
Police also stated that the massage establishments involved are under investigation for regulatory breaches. The operations form part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal activities operating within legitimate-looking businesses.
One of the targeted massage parlours was located on the second floor of a shopping centre in Boon Lay. Inside, the premises were dimly lit and equipped with six massage beds and three massage chairs. The beds were separated only by thin curtains, providing minimal privacy. Small tables placed beside each bed contained wet wipes and packets of tissue paper, suggesting the space was set up for quick turnover between customers.
A second establishment raided was situated on the second floor of a shophouse in Jurong. This location featured four private massage rooms, each containing a massage bed. Three of the rooms were also fitted with shower facilities, which investigators believe may have been used to facilitate illicit activities.
Authorities did not disclose details about the third location under investigation but confirmed that inquiries are ongoing.
Police said the arrested women are suspected of engaging in vice-related activities, specifically offering sexual services to clients for payment. Investigators are now working to determine the full extent of the operations, including whether there were organisers or syndicates behind the businesses.
The crackdown reflects Singapore’s strict stance on vice-related offences and unlicensed activities. Law enforcement agencies have consistently warned that businesses found to be operating outside legal boundaries will face serious consequences, including closure and prosecution.
Officials also highlighted the importance of regulatory compliance among massage establishments, noting that legitimate operators must adhere to licensing conditions and are subject to regular inspections.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police continuing to gather evidence and conduct interviews. Further enforcement actions are expected as authorities intensify efforts to root out similar operations across the region.
