Paul Gallagher, Brother of Liam and Noel, Appears in Court on Rape Charge
Paul Gallagher, the elder brother of Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher, has made his first court appearance after being charged with multiple serious offences, including rape.
The 59-year-old from East Finchley, North London, attended Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning, where he confirmed his name, age, and address in a brief five-minute hearing. He entered no pleas and was granted bail ahead of his next appearance at Harrow Crown Court on September 24.
Charges Against Gallagher
Last month, the Metropolitan Police confirmed Gallagher had been charged following an investigation launched earlier in 2024. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2022 and 2024 and involve a single complainant, who is being supported by specially trained officers.
The charges include:
- Rape
- Coercive and controlling behaviour
- Three counts of sexual assault
- Three counts of intentional strangulation
- Two counts of making threats to kill
- Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
Gallagher’s Response
Gallagher’s legal team issued a statement stressing his denial of the allegations.
“Mr Gallagher has consistently engaged with the police throughout their investigation and always strongly denied the allegations made against him,” the statement read.
“He looks forward to clearing his name, but as there are now ongoing legal proceedings our client is unable to comment further.”
Fallout After Charges
Soon after the charges were made public, Gallagher was dropped from a series of scheduled gigs. He had been due to DJ at The Grand Social in Dublin to coincide with Liam Gallagher’s two sold-out Croke Park shows on August 16 and 17. The venue confirmed his removal from the lineup.
Reports also surfaced that Liam Gallagher had allowed his brother to move into his £4 million North London mansion ahead of his court appearance.
Background
While not a member of Oasis, Paul Gallagher was closely linked to the band’s rise, working as a DJ and photographer during their tours. Unlike his younger brothers, he has maintained a lower public profile, though his ties to the band have kept him within the Oasis orbit.
The case is ongoing, with Gallagher due to face his next hearing at Harrow Crown Court in late September.
