Colorado Man Crashes SUV Into Homes During Domestic Disturbance
Police in Colorado have arrested a man accused of ramming his SUV into two homes, including his ex-girlfriend’s mother’s residence, during a violent domestic disturbance. Authorities say the suspect also attempted to run over his ex-girlfriend’s mother multiple times before being subdued by neighbors.
The incident unfolded on Sunday morning in the Hyland Greens neighborhood of Westminster, a suburban community outside Denver. According to the Westminster Police Department, officers responded at around 10:45 a.m. to “reports of two separate incidents involving a vehicle and private residences.”
Targeting Ex-Girlfriend’s Family
Investigators believe the suspect’s actions stemmed from a domestic dispute with his former partner’s family. Preliminary findings indicate that the man first drove his vehicle into the home of his ex-girlfriend’s mother, then fled the scene. Shortly afterward, he allegedly crashed into a second, unrelated residence in the area.
Police say he later returned to the first house, where he attempted to run over his ex-girlfriend’s mother several times. He then rammed his vehicle into the residence again, causing additional damage.
Neighbors Step In
Witnesses reported that neighbors rushed to intervene as the situation escalated. Residents of the Hyland Greens neighborhood were able to detain the suspect before police arrived, preventing further harm. Officers then took the man into custody without further incident.
Authorities have not publicly identified the suspect, but confirmed he was arrested in connection with the series of crashes and the attempted assault.
Damage and Injuries
Despite the chaotic sequence of events, police confirmed that no serious injuries were reported. The homes struck by the SUV sustained visible damage, and structural assessments are underway to determine the extent.
