Phuket Fury: Man Slams Ex’s ‘Pathetic’ Punishment
A furious holidaymaker has slammed his ex-girlfriend’s “pathetic” punishment after she wrecked his dream trip to Thailand with a spiteful passport plot.
William Barr, 31, thought he was heading for the adventure of a lifetime in Phuket. Instead, he was locked in a foreign police cell, treated like a criminal, and deported back to Scotland — all because his bitter ex, Rosie Wood, reported his passport stolen.
The vicious stunt cost William £2,500 in flights and hotels, but a court ordered Wood to cough up just £500 and serve 167 hours of unpaid work.
“She ruined my holiday and left me thousands out of pocket, yet she’s laughing about it online,” blasted William. “I got banged up abroad, and she got a slap on the wrist. It’s disgusting.”
The Fife man said he was thrown into chaos the moment he landed in Phuket. Security flagged his passport, Thai officials pounced, and he was shoved into a holding cell for 14 hours before being deported.
“I didn’t know if I’d ever get home. My mum had to call the British Embassy to sort it out,” he said. “Nobody in court heard the full story because I wasn’t even told about the hearing. I only found out in the papers.”
Wood, 31, admitted in Dunfermline Sheriff Court that she cancelled the passport out of revenge, saying she was “p****d off” that William had “left her kids.” Once the report was made, it couldn’t be undone — leaving William stranded thousands of miles from home.
But what infuriates him most is her attitude since. Hours after her sentencing, Wood mocked the punishment on social media, posting: “Litter-picking no on the script for me.”
William said: “She’s treating it like a joke. I’ve lost £2,500, but she only has to give me back £500. Where’s the justice in that? If I’d done it to her, I’d have been forced to pay back every single penny.”
The passport revenge scandal has left William demanding answers over why his ordeal — which included detention, deportation, and financial loss — wasn’t properly reflected in court.
“My holiday turned into a nightmare, and all she got was community service,” he said. “It’s a total joke, and she’s got away with it.”
