Wife Finds Missing Husband’s Skeleton in Septic Tank After 3 Years

In a tragic discovery, a woman in Thailand has found the remains of her husband three years after he vanished—hidden in a septic tank behind their family home.

The skeleton was identified as belonging to 66-year-old Seung Paekratok. His wife, Tawee Paekratok, stumbled upon the remains while clearing an overgrown area in Nong Bun Mak district, Nakhon Ratchasima, to build an additional bathroom.

The septic tank, measuring one metre wide and 1.5 metres deep, had been concealed by weeds for years. Tawee said she immediately recognized her husband’s clothing among the bones, including the yellow shirt he was last seen wearing.

Years of Searching

Seung disappeared more than three years ago, sparking worry among his family and neighbors. Tawee filed a police report and followed every reported sighting. She even recalled a dream in which she saw her husband standing outside their home—something her neighbors interpreted as a sign he had already passed away.

Despite the ongoing search, the remains went unnoticed because the area was heavily overgrown. Any foul odors were dismissed as compost, which Seung often made using wastewater from the tank.

Believed to Be an Accident

Tawee told local media she does not suspect foul play. She believes her husband may have fallen into the septic tank by accident while drunk. He frequently checked the rainwater gutter and used wastewater from the tank for composting, which could explain how he ended up near the tank on the night of his disappearance.

Police Investigation

Police have collected the remains and will perform DNA testing with the couple’s daughter to formally confirm the identity. While Tawee is certain the bones belong to her husband, she says she will wait for official results before holding religious rites in his memory.

The case has drawn local attention, with neighbors gathering at the scene to witness the unexpected and tragic conclusion to a long search.
