Five Suspects Kill Guard Steal E Cigs in Bangkok Heist

BANGKOK – A security guard was killed early Sunday morning after being struck by a van used by a group of thieves attempting to steal electronic cigarettes from a container at Khlong Toei Port. Police have identified the suspects and are actively pursuing them.

The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. on June 1. Thung Maha Mek Police Station received a report of a fatal collision near the Port Authority of Thailand stadium warehouse on Kasemrat Road in the Khlong Toei district.

Responding to the scene were police officers, forensic experts, a medical examiner from Chulalongkorn Hospital, and rescue volunteers. They discovered the body of 58-year-old security guard Bunnak (surname withheld), who had suffered fatal injuries to his head and back. He was found lying on his back with visible facial injuries. His motorcycle, a Honda Wave 125i, was nearby, heavily damaged and overturned. A grey pickup truck at the scene also showed damage to its left side.

A colleague of the deceased security guard reported seeing a white van with five men acting suspiciously as they attempted to steal items from a container warehouse housing electronic cigarettes and e-liquids. As the security team moved to confront them, the suspects attempted to flee.

During the escape, the van reversed into the motorcycle of the pursuing guard, fatally injuring him. The van also struck a local resident’s pickup truck before speeding off toward the Na Ranong intersection.

Police have identified the five suspects involved and are actively working to track them down and bring legal charges.
