A 39-year-old woman was apprehended in Loei province after fleeing a police checkpoint and being found in possession of an MK2 grenade, commonly known as a “pineapple grenade.” The incident occurred on June 4, 2025, when paramilitary rangers from Task Force 2102 of the 21st Ranger Regiment attempted to stop her motorcycle at a checkpoint in Ban Ahi, Tha Li district. Instead of complying, she accelerated and fled, prompting a pursuit that ended at an unregistered house in Ban Chonprathan. There, officers discovered the grenade concealed in grass. The woman, identified as Kornwipha, claimed she had purchased the grenade from a neighboring country for self-defense. However, authorities suspect a possible connection to drug trafficking activities along the border. She has been handed over to Tha Li Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
