Three Arrested in Banglamung Drug Sting; Trafficking Operation Dismantled
Chonburi, Thailand – Police in Banglamung District successfully dismantled a local drug trafficking network, arresting three suspects and seizing significant quantities of illegal drugs and two vehicles used in the operation.
The operation was ordered by Pol. Col. Sarawut Nuchanart, Chief of Banglamung Police Station, and executed under the leadership of Pol. Maj. Kornphong Sukvisith, Deputy Chief of Investigation, and Pol. Sub-Lt. Thongthawat Phonlakorn, Deputy Inspector of the Special Operations Unit, with assistance from the investigation team.
Sting Operation Leads to Arrests
Acting on a tip from an informant, officers launched a sting operation at a rented room in the Nong Pla Lai sub-district. The first suspect, Mr. Kanin Wannakosit, 35, was arrested with 4.15 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice) in his possession.
Shortly after, a second suspect, Mr. Chayaphon Urachuen, 38, arrived at the scene to deliver more drugs. Officers searched his white Honda Civic, discovering 21.20 grams of ice and 15 yaba pills (methamphetamine tablets).
A third suspect, Mr. Montchai Channuam, 34, arrived later in a black Toyota Vios. Police found 29 grams of ice and 25 yaba pills hidden in a bag inside the vehicle.
Confession and Warning
During interrogation, Chayaphon admitted to acting as a middleman in the drug trade, distributing narcotics to youth in the Banglamung area. He confessed that the profits from drug sales were squandered on mobile slot machine gambling, warning others:
“Even with the easy money from selling drugs, I lost everything to gambling. There’s no way to win.”
Evidence Seized and Legal Action Underway
Police seized the narcotics and both vehicles as evidence. The suspects have been transferred to Banglamung Police Station for formal charges and legal proceedings under Thai law.
Reinforcing Regional Anti-Drug Efforts
This successful bust is part of a broader anti-narcotics initiative led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatkiat Jindakuansanong, Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, aimed at disrupting drug networks and reducing illegal drug use in the region.
